Results of liver fuinction stumd!ies were witiliml mlorliial limits except for a 4+ cephalin floccumiation after 48 hours. A direct Coombs’ test was negative. The patient was given 50 mg. of vitamiiin K, oxide imitravemiously with aimuost inimiicdiate cessatiomi of all bleeding. A bone marrow aspiration performed on November 20, 1957,

A Case of Relapsing Polychondritis Associated with Myelodysplastic Syndrome with Erythroid Hypoplasia/Aplasia
Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is a rare multisystem disorder. Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) with erythroid hypoplasia/aplasia is a rare form of myelodysplasia. Several cases of RP associated with MDS have recently been described. However, RP associated with MDS with erythroid hypoplasia/aplasia has never been reported. There was only one case report of polymyalgia rheumatica associated with MD...
متن کاملReversible thrombocytosis and anemia due to miconazole therapy.
Miconazole was administered intravenously in six consecutive patients with, active coccidioidal infection. Such treatment was associated with progressive anemia and thrombocytosis. The hematological abnormalities appeared to be dose related and potentially reversible. Bone marrow studies demonstrated erythroid hypoplasia and increased or active platelet production in three subjects. No hemorrha...
متن کاملPyoderma gangrenosum associated with erythroid hypoplasia.
Pyoderma gangrenosum is most commonly associated with inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatoid arthritis, but it has been associated with various haematological malignancies. We describe its association with primary erythroid hypoplasia without thymoma in an 80 year old woman who presented with septicaemia complicating urinary tract infection. Spontaneous healing of an extensive lesion was obs...
متن کاملTransient erythroid hypoplasia in a patient on long-term co-trimoxazole therapy.
Introduction Although co-trimoxazole ('Septrin', 'Bactrim') is in common use, the incidence of associated erythropoietic disturbance is low. This is surprising, since the trimethoprim component has been shown to have some action on human dihydrofolate reductase (Hitchings, 1969) and the sulphamethoxazole might be expected to cause haematological complications as do other sulphonamides (Laurence...
متن کاملAntibody-mediated acquired sideroblastic anemia: response to cytotoxic therapy.
A 5 1/2-yr-old child developed severe anemia with erythroid hypoplasia and 50% ringed sideroblasts in his bone marrow. A serum inhibitor of erythropoiesis was demonstrated, utilizing syngeneic and autologous bone marrow in a plasma-clot culture system. The IgG fraction of the patient's serum effected similar suppression of erythroid colony formation. Prednisone therapy was ineffective, but foll...
متن کاملIron as the Key Modulator of Hepcidin Expression in Erythroid Antibody-Mediated Hypoplasia
Erythroid hypoplasia (EH) is a rare complication associated with recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) therapies, due to development of anti-rHuEPO antibodies; however, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly clarified. Our aim was to manage a rat model of antibody-mediated EH induced by rHuEPO and study the impact on iron metabolism and erythropoiesis. Wistar rats treated during 9 weeks wi...
